Local war industry worker Mrs. Caroline Hogan Marvin, aged, employed at Avco Supply Co. plant, Titusville, is held on murder charges in the shooting of Harold Muir. She told deputy coroner and police she fired a .22 rifle at Muir after a quarrel. Muir died soon after at a hospital. Ocean and Monmouth county fishermen are throwing wilting back into the ocean due to low prices and ceiling costs.
George Leicester Viereck, writer and publisher, was convicted in federal court for a second time of concealing his pro German propaganda activities from the State Department before the United States entered World War I. Authorities said Viereck operated propaganda efforts on behalf of Germany while in the country.
