State Police from Kane investigated the death of 45 year old Nelle Ellen who was found unconscious with a bullet wound near her home in Kane. She died at Bradford Hospital after authorities confirmed the wound was self inflicted amid a preceding illness and a relapse following the loss of a child earlier this year. Neighbors and relatives aided in the immediate search when she disappeared briefly yesterday.
July 1. Albert F. Goteh 16 of Butta drowned near the mouth of Putaringus Creek while family picnicking at Hanover Park. His body washed ashore on the Evie county side and recovered about 1 oclock. Goteh and his companion Pred Pitts waded about one foot from shore when a wave swept him out. a nearby man aided in the rescue attempt but the victim disappeared.
An 87 year old retired widower John Golembieski reportedly hanged himself from a tree in his rear yard at 590 East 20th Street Erie shortly after 1:30 PM Monday. Coroner Waren W. Woods ordered the death investigated as a suicide after nervous spells were noted. his son Stanley left the house briefly prior to discovery by a visitor who learned from a neighbor that the father was found in the yard.
Firefighters battled a stubborn blaze for hours in the engine room of the discarded lake freighter SS Pente cost Mitchell at the Aliod Of dock. Investigation attributed the fire to ignited grease and air from an acetylene torch, with drums of oil igniting as flames spread. No damage estimate was provided.
Norristown Pa July 16 Helen Saylor Hanley 22 and her ex escort John Ro Hotta 25 were shot to death in a car near the girl’s home. The pair had been estranged from her husband Kenneth W Hanley 25 Norris town a discharged revenuer. Hoffman gave police details after a conversation about Ken, identifying him as Helen’s former husband.
