Penelec Applies New Higher Rate Nationwide
Penelec will raise bills due July 7 after the Public Utility Commission approved the rate increase retroactive to July 10, 1975. The $14.9 million revenue boost is split about $9.5 million from residential customers and the rest from commercial and other users. The average bill rises 9.1 percent or $2.08 monthly. Hitchhiker Robs Car After Ride Near Corry
Corry man George Valletti 48 of 440 Wayne street picked up a young male hitchhiker on Route 6 at 2 45 am. The passenger forced Valletti to a gravel pit then fled as troopers chased the stolen car toward Union City. The driver, described as about 22, 5 feet 9 inches, 140 pounds with long blond hair, wearing a white pullover jersey and blue jeans, eluded capture as bloodhounds searched the area.
