Bus Operator at Kane Escapes Fiery Death
Kane bus operator C D Jones narrowly escaped death Tuesday when a 12 passenger Cadillac limousine used for bus service on Route 08 went off a embankment 18 miles south of Kane. Jones trapped as doors shrank, crawled free just as gasoline ignited and flashed fire through the vehicle. A Marienville couple behind the bus stopped to assist as Jones forced a door and escaped. Attempts to extinguish the flames failed due to gasoline filling the vehicle with fire.
