Heron rookery found at Pymatuning near Harrisburg
A mass settlement of Great Blue Herons was discovered in the swamp near Woodland eight miles from Linesville, bordering Pymatuning Lake in Crawford county. It is one of the region’s largest colonies, with other local birds including the Black Crown Night Heron and Green Heron. The story notes that households may be compelled to provide information, though persuasion is preferred. The bagpipe is attributed to origins in Asia.
