Police moved to quell unrest after a second night of stoning incidents in the Khe Negro area. Several youths were arrested for disorderly conduct as Deputy Chief Charles Bowers deployed riot units and police dogs, despite pleas for restraint.
Mrs Irene J Kistler 91 of Spartansburg died yesterday after a brief illness. Born April 19 1876 in Sparta Township she was a member of Spartansburg Methodist Church and WSCS. One brother Ralph Easton preceded her in death. Funeral at H Richard Hays Funeral Home Spartansburg tomorrow at 2 pm Rev A Lewis Hewitt officiating. Interment Rose Hill Cemetery Spartansburg.
A reduced rate became effective this week for 174 of Pennsylvania Electric Companys all electric commercial and industrial customers. The new rate saves customers more than 20000 annually and brings total annual electric heating savings to about 7 million over seven years. The lower rate reduces Peneles revenue by about 6.5 percent but aims to spur conversion to electric heating and air conditioning and to cut construction costs by eliminating separate circuits and meters.
Judge F Joseph Thomas ruled in Equity Court that barking dogs by neighbors created a private nuisance for Mr and Mrs Ralph Mamrak of Cambridge Springs. Defendants ordered to discipline dogs and relocate dogpen to reduce disturbance. Mamraks to pay court costs. Case stemmed from July 1965 to present with up to four dogs.
