Four Die as Western Pa Storms Rake Region

Severe weekend storms and tornadoes ripped across western Pennsylvania leaving four people dead and ten hospitalized. A tornado cut a 60 foot path in Westmoreland County while others died in Oil City and Clarion County from lightning and falling trees. Utilities suffered minor outages. Corry and Big Run faced spared but branch damage and destroyed trailers.

Carter Ready For Anything Democratic Convention Begins

New York Subsidizes Corry Mayville Rail Line

New York State will subsidize part of the Mayville to Corry rail line though five miles stretch in Erie County. Commissioner Raymond T. Death sentence for Cleveland man in Spartansburg killing

Preston Fayne Jr., 20, was sentenced to death in Ashtabula County for the shooting death of John McQuiston, 25, at a gas station on I-90 in North Kingsville after a robbery. Three accomplices were injured during the crime. McQuiston had recently moved from Corry to Spartansburg.

Revenue Aid Checks Due for Erie County and Localities

Congressman Joseph Vigorito announced the 16th revenue sharing payment totaling 1,134,258 to Erie County and local governments, bringing the program total to 24,276,205. Corry will receive 46,859. Other municipalities receive Elgin Borough 245, Union City 15,104, Wattsburg 958, Concord Township 32,95, Wayne Township 95,715.
