Veeck Deliberates Offer for Indians as Softball News Stirs Erie
The Cleveland Indians potential sale is debated after reports that Dan Thornton offers to buy. Veeck may sell only if a new venture returns him to baseball elsewhere. Meanwhile Erie Skippers Softball headlines center on a benefit game for hospital funds and a possible matchup with Cleveland Rangers A. C. at Loveland Field drawing about 1000 spectators. Local notes reference Corry Vets exhibition, odds and ends from Cleveland League play, and forecast attendance near 1.5 million by late July if wintry weather cooperates.
