Heavy Rains Flood SW Pennsylvania Cause Power Outages
Heavy rains over three hours dumped two to four inches in southwestern Pennsylvania with Cannonsburg and Claysville bearing the heaviest downpour. Allegheny and Washington counties were hit hardest as flash flood warnings extended to Somerset, Cambria and Westmoreland. Flooding damaged basements and a school roof in nearby Moundsville, W Va, while utility crews repaired lines amid strikes. City traffic and Port Authority bus service were disrupted, and a mine shaft incident briefly affected trolley operations.
