Bartender on Trial as Dodger in Lackawanna Case
Walter J. Boothe of Lackawanna went on trial in Federal court before Judge John Knight for falsely altering draft classification. Prosecutors say Boothe, a married father of two, passed 1-A in March 1944 then received a deferment and obtained a saloon job he did not actually work, leading to a 2-B classification, with evidence of running the Lackawanna saloon from morning to evening.
