Fire destroys milk house on Culbertson farm near Host Troy
A large frame milk house and laundry room on Robert G. Culbertson’s East Troy farm burned for about 45 minutes, destroying the building valued at 1500 dollars. Fireman from Townville arrived quickly, salvaging two milking machines and a washing setup while two residents suffered minor burns. No one was injured seriously, and neither the building nor equipment were insured. The blaze likely started from an oil stove explosion, with nearby telephone wires sustaining minor damage.

County considers prison farm adjacent to infirmary
A county prison board discussed a possible relocation to a new prison farm next to the county infirmary. Erie Council of Churches Social Action Committee officials questioned inmate rehabilitation plans and operations. Warden Jay Sherman favored the farm idea, while Judge Evans noted a previous plan to move prisoners daily to downtown facilities was abandoned. Separate notes report Mrs. Edwin McLain and family visiting Wesleyville and departing to Marietta, Georgia for a visit with Riley Jordan family.
