Columbus Assured New Home for Public Library
The Columbus library project gains a permanent site as a local effort revives through the library association. After years of dwindling support and mounting expenses, a 1920s push reorganized the effort with help from Emma Dutton, the school board, and trustees. Funds came from donations and a proposed public tax, but operations stalled until a WPA attempt failed. A revival now proceeds with foundation work and community fund-raising activities to sustain a new library in Columbus.
