Man charged with selling insurance without license
William G. Debout of Center Ville pleaded innocent to charges of selling insurance without a license and was held for a hearing. A minor fire incident injured Samuel Mercure, 18, of Eric, when a kerosene lantern exploded near Lake Road, about six miles east of the city.

A summer Vacation Bible School at the Alliance church concluded last evening with commencement exercises at 7:30. The program featured scripture quoting songs and a demonstration. Rev. C.J. Chrimes and Miss Kathryn Peacock spoke. Enrollment reached 115 with several honor students named including Joan Beverly Cartke Kathryn McKlidawney Leta Fox Roger Stowe Betty West and Betty Hilhney.
