U.S. Rejects Long Term Credits to Communist Nations
Secretary Rusk and Japanese Foreign Minister Shiina discussed U S views on credits with Communist states. Tokyo seeks five year credits matching West Europe while U S favors separating political and economic ties. They differ on Viet Nam policy, but both say gaps are small though public criticism in Japan remains sharp. Rusk defended bombing in North Viet Nam and questioned peacemaking prospects, arguing the other side shows no peace drive.

Storm Related Weather Damages and Plane Sighting Report
A storm caused damage to undercarriage and tail surfaces of a light plane, which landed in a cornfield at the Leslie Dodd farm on Scotts Crossing Road after a flight from potato farm work areas. The plane, owned by Tico Irrigation Co. of Williamsport, was found empty and the pilot later seen in Corry. Lightning knocked out a traffic light at Smith and North Center streets, while utilities reported brief outages. Corry Civil Defense activated, pumping a basement at a local building later in the night.
