Chamberlin and Levine Split Publicly Over Race Plan
Paris July 7 Clarence D Chamberlin and Charles A Levine have quietly broken their partnership after a telegram challenging Commander Richard Byrd to a New York to Paris return. Chamberlin refuses to pilot the Bellanca back. Levine plans to fly with a French pilot. The pair remain at the same hotel but speak coldly, with Chamberlin blaming Levine for sending the Byrd message without permission. They plan to fly to London tomorrow then sail home. French aviators doubt the Bellanca’s suitability and aging radius.
