Springfield reports a police raid on Klan headquarters resulting in the arrest of sixty four Klansmen including the Kleagle W.1 Pupinet during a funeral service for a Klansman. Some were charged with disorderly conduct and rioting conspiracy. several released on bond after local Klansmen or attorneys intervened. J. M. Place of Washington visited briefly before leaving for Youngstown.
United Press reports American financier John D. Rockefeller to mark his 84th birthday tomorrow. The event will be observed at his home in Porwasion with family and friends in attendance and a church visit planned. Rockefeller, born in 1839, has built great wealth from his oil empire and philanthropy.
In a fog shrouded channel a steamer sprang a large hole and sank after leaving Cowmron bound for Southampton. The vessel, tearing a hole in her side, sent 400 passengers overboard and the captain steered toward Jervey to reach safety. Rescue efforts succeeded as the ship drifted in darkness.
A large airship identified as the Gypsy Moth was spotted over the city Thursday morning, with officials confirming its flight from Dayton toward Elmira. The craft, commanded by Major I A Strais and Sergeant William J Rep aytt, reportedly traveled from Cooke Wield and halted briefly for fuel at a lakeside resort before continuing toward Hasimoniaport near Elmira.
