Farmer Killed By Bolt Of Lightning As Family Seeks Shelter
A 40 year old farmer Frank E. McKensie was killed by a lightning bolt while sheltering under a tree during a thunderstorm. His two sons Ernest 14 and Rodger 9 were injured and admitted to Meyersdale Community Hospital. The family was operating a tractor when the storm struck.

Erie Council Accepts Compromise On Sewer
Erie City Council yesterday accepted a compromise offer on a $9,000 sewer bill, agreeing to pay about $4,500 and receive $3,271 in back taxes due to school district condemnation of property at 38th and Stanton streets. A court-appointed board had ruled the school district should cover the sewer cost for building a grade school. The school board may take the issue to the Supreme Court to avoid a prolonged dispute.
