Lost Air Force plane crew listed after Pacific crash
In the mid Pacific about 600 miles southwest, a C 124 Globemaster with nine crew aboard crashed. Three survivors were rescued after up to 12 hours in the water. four of the five missing crew were identified by the Air Force. Commanding officer Capt Jonathan W Brown, flight engineer T Sgt James M Phillips, and second flight engineer SSgt C van Derte were among those rescued. The missing included Lt Gerald J Bona navigator Airman 1C Charles Entrekin loadmaster and SSgt Thomas Pasco. One unidentified crewman remained, as university family details were incomplete. Lindy Highhouse, 7 of Conneaut Lake, survives after being pulled from the water as the boat circling nearby fails to see her. Dolney’s body not recovered by late morning.
