About 200 Thunderjet bombers attacked a large headquarters complex 20 miles south of the river as intelligence noted evacuation of officer candidates was planned. American Sabre jets countered formations of Russian MiGs, film evidence indicated ten killed, one probe capable and four damaged. The Fourth of July base ended a week with no Allied planes lost.
Three traffic accidents occurred in the Corry area over the Fourth of July weekend. No injuries were reported though two crashes involved vehicles on West Main Street and a third on the Corry-Cyme road near Boelock. Police said charges may be filed after continued investigation.
