Senate Appropriations Panel Cuts AEC Funding Request
The Senate Appropriations Committee moved to reduce Atomic Energy Commission funding for this fiscal year by trimming operating funds and shifting unobligated balances. The measure would make about 1.481 billion dollars available for AEC with 575 million in new money, while cutting back overall budget requests by roughly 40 million to 111 million below House figures. The bill advances to the Senate for action on military construction and related allocations.
