Awards Approved Against S S North American Sinking
U S District Judge Gerald J Weber in Erie approved about nineteen thousand five hundred dollars in claims against the sunken S S North American out of twenty two thousand from the marshal sale proceeds. The port commission received eight thousand nine hundred nineteen dollars for wharfage from April 1 1985 to August 15 1987 and Daub Associates Erie received eight thousand four hundred ninety dollars for guard service. Other approved claims included insurance one thousand eighty five legal advertising four hundred three miscellaneous three hundred fifteen and one hundred twenty four for electrical work at the guard house.

Warren man injured in tire changer mishap at Kane station
Clinton Tyler, 24, of Warren, was changing a tire at a service station when a tire on a changing machine exploded. The rim struck his forehead, he was taken to Kane Community Hospital by ambulance, underwent emergency surgery, and was later moved to Hamot Hospital in Erie, where he remained in intensive care.
