Federal Trade Commission urges stronger cigarette warnings
The FTC says current health hazard warnings on cigarette packs are too vague and weak and urges new wording stating that smoking is dangerous and may cause death from cancer and other diseases. It also calls for listing tar and nicotine content on packs and ads and opposes extraong cigarettes. The agency notes rising tobacco sales and backs banning cigarette ads on radio and TV.
