Three Brothers Held In Death Of South Renovo Girl
Dist Atty Alan Lugg planned to meet state police to decide on action against three boys, Philip Bilby 15, Robert 14, and Terry 9, held in the suffocation death of six year old Dorothy Mae Slanderin. Police said the youths, described as mentally retarded, placed the girl in a wooden box to avoid interference with their run from a foster home. The box holes failed to pierce metal lining. State police described the death as a tragedy and filed juvenile court petitions. The boys claimed they were mistreated and planned to run away. Foster parents denied neglect, saying they were strict but caring. The case continued.
