Thirty Five Lost From Maine Fishing Party
Eyewitness reports and search crews said five bodies were found as authorities believe all 35 members of a Rumford Maine fishing party aboard the 44 foot cabin cruiser Don may have perished after a likely explosion and fire. Oil City Patrolman Injured In Street Crash
Patrolman Joseph A. Gancas, 25, attached to state motor police, suffered serious injuries when his motorcycle collided with a truck backing from a Main Street parking place. He sustained a fractured arm and other injuries though reports later said head and internal injuries were not as serious as first feared. Driver Melvin Riley, 446 Main Street, Oil City, had a wrist fracture while backing the truck to turn toward Old Guy after lunch. The collision occurred as the motorcycle and truck met in the street center.
