July, a hot month, brings changes like two hour parking limits on Center street and new traffic regulations on order. The Nast Company expands its North Center street store with display cases, dressing rooms, and a larger corset department, while interior redecorations proceed.
Arrangements to take over the signing of Social Security account numbers from the Post Office Department were completed. From July 1, field offices designated as typing offices will issue account cards for several counties, with Form SS-5 data needed to ensure all wage credits are posted to each employee’s account. Employers may file on behalf of workers if needed, but employees must still obtain and share their own number. The Social Security Board cautioned workers to act to protect future benefits and noted Post Office credits of over 29 million numbers issued to date through 1,072 typing centers.
Rumors say two Pennsylvania Railroad passenger trains will be removed on July 11 as a curtailment of service through this city. Officials could not confirm. reports named eastbound No 068 from Erie at 11 19 a m and westbound No 503 from 2 p m, with departures 2 30 and 9 11 p m respectively. The move, linked to rising operating costs and lower traffic, may affect the Buffalo Pittsburgh division.

Wayne Snyder aged 4 and Merle Ohler aged 20 were injured when their pickup crashed off a highway near Kine and the Emlenton road. Snyder may have a fractured skull and concussion while Ohler sustained a fractured skull cap. Both were listed in fair condition as doctors awaited further X rays.
The Corry pageant selects Miss American Legion of Pennsylvania to represent at the state convention. Fifty local young ladies compete in evening dresses for the title with three judges judging on Monday night. The winner advances to the national convention in New York City and the public is urged to attend.
