Dairymen Face Hard Times From Slumping Mill Prices
Dairymen in New York and nearby regions endure severe hardship as mill prices fall. Kenneth Hood of the New York State College of Agriculture bases findings on 1931 costs and returns showing low milk prices and high production costs. The report notes negative returns per hour of labor and an average cow output far above typical, with grain, hay, and silage inputs detailed.
