The crew was preparing to load logs for delivery to the Chicago Mill and Lumber Co plant in Helena. Mrs Weeks and a Negro cook survived with shock and injuries.

A Cutting area home on Cutting-Prench Creek road burned early morning destroying the house and all contents. Mr and Mrs Donald Swanson and their small son were left homeless. Swanson could not explain the start. Neighbors saw flames as they slept. He phoned the Clymer fire department after nearly a mile dash. By arrival the blaze raged with little chance to save structure. About 35 men responded and 10 injuries occurred among firefighters and residents. Fire officials could not yet estimate the loss.
Police pursued Lars Adams of R D Corty after a wild drive starting on Center Street and ending on West Smith Avenue. Adams was arrested after resisting orders and refusing to stop. Gilber Rowland of Union City was cited for a ticket at the intersection during the chase.
A former Corry pharmacist was held up at gunpoint just before 1 in the evening. A young bandit wearing a nylon stocking over his head demanded all the bills and fled with the day's receipts in a bag. Police investigated as arson was suspected due to a small fire in a cupboard on the second floor and a long, dirty overcoat worn by the robber.
Jacksonville disc jockey Dave Hunter ends a marathon broadcast at 1:08 p.m. Thursday after 235 hours on air. He slept 17 hours, returned home in an ambulance, ate cake, drank milk, then collapsed into bed.
Former army Captain Pedro Morejon awaited execution on a war crime sentence after the supreme revolutionary tribunal denied his appeal.
