Vigorito Bill Aims to Reorganize Erie Lackawanna Railroad

U S Rep Joseph P Vigorito introduced a measure to amend the Regional Rail Reorganization Act of 1973 allowing bankrupt lines like Erie Lackawanna to be reorganized under the 1973 Act. The bill seeks to prevent dissolution by reclassifying Erie Lackawanna as a Railroad in reorganization and notes its service to six Midwest and Northeast states and key customers. It argues the statute of limitations has run on other options and highlights potential impact on local industries if dissolution occurs.
