North Central U S Hit By Snow and Cold
Cold winds brought snow and plummeting temperatures across the north central states with gusts to 40 mph in northern Montana and a rapid fall from 37 to 1 at Havre. Snow spread across western Montana and much of North Dakota while warm gusty winds affected Wyoming and Livingston. Dense fog reduced southern Appalachians visibility and a scattered rain and snow pattern affected the eastern Gulf Coast to the Carolinas. Local notes mention a bake sale at the National Bank of Corry on February 1 sponsored by the Women's Auxiliary and the Corry Area Fine Arts Council.
