Commander Testifies No Help Available To Pueblo
Cmdr Charles R. Clark testified at a Navy court of inquiry that the Banner’s light armed intelligence craft concept is valid but he would not again operate near Red China or North Korea. He paralleled Cmdr Lloyd Bucher’s Pueblo experience, noting the Banner was not seized or held captive. The court heard that no forces were readily available to aid Pueblo, with planes and ships from other commands too far away or unavailable.
