County to share harbor costs and form temporary Erie port authority
Erie officials plan a temporary five member port authority within two to three weeks with a $1,790,000 state appropriation for harbor improvements. County commissioners may finance part of the local share, estimated at $400,000 for the first phase to add a new wharf and terminal area. Mayor Gardner will meet with the county after state funds are appropriated to discuss joint financing and appointments as the state paves the way for a statewide port authority and potential airport involvement.
