Cuba Prepares Welcome For Brezhnev Visit
Cuba readies a large welcome for Soviet Communist Party chief Leonid Brezhnev in Havana. The visit, among the first by a top Soviet leader in years, follows talks on thaw prospects with the United States amid ongoing Cuban economic strains and Moscow aid. Brezhnev’s trip may mirror Kosygin’s 1971 visit with public ceremonies and provincial tours. Havana radio hails it as potentially the most important in Cuba’s history.
