Forest fire protection praised in Pa to match national efforts
Data from the Forest Service and state boards show Pennsylvania maintain low fire losses. In 1950 Pennsylvania logged 910 fires on protected lands versus nationwide 9,057 in 1939 and 6,678 in 1850, with protection costs only 6.3 cents per acre, among the lowest regionally. A note highlights drought and rain influence on fire damage and praises state efficiency. Also mentions a blood donor from East Liverpool preparing to donate his ninth pint.
