Homes Evacuated Near Philadelphia Amid Floods
Rain and melting snow sent the Schuylkill River and its tributaries rising across eastern Pennsylvania. Dozens evacuated in Philadelphia low-lying areas along the Schuylkill while towns from Reading to Pottsville faced rising waters. No deaths or serious injuries reported, but businesses flooded in Reading and several highways inundated near Bethlehem and Allentown. Ground remained frozen, limiting water absorption, with temperatures plummeting in parts of the state. The weather service warned of further travel disruptions and potential minor flooding in vulnerable communities.
