Severe rural fire kills 74 year old near Brookville
The badly burned body of Donald R. Jones, 74, was found in a rural home three miles north of Brookville after a fire. Coroner Paul Jordan said autopsy results will take a week, as the blaze lacked a clear cause and a state police fire marshal investigates. Jones had lived alone until his nephew moved in a week earlier. the fire was reported around 7:40 a.m. Nearby, a fuel truck trailer rolled down an embankment on Route 9 north of Water fuel, with driver Harry Brown escaping injury. Damage estimates ranged from 3 000 to 5 000 dollars. the trailer remained at the scene late evening.
