Anti Liquor Bill Targets Clubs In House Action

Harrisburg Jan 20 United Press report says a House bill aimed at clubs would bar manufacturers from selling liquor to wholesalers or retailers within the state. A Senate version was filed, alongside appropriations totals exceeding five million dollars. The day saw large road fund allocations and a primary expense measure. A heroin sale restriction bill was also introduced requiring physician certification and sales records.

Mrs Amon Morgan Dies in Philadelphia at Germantown

Mrs Amon R Morgan died at 10 this morning at her Germantown home after a long illness. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 PM at the Germantown family residence with burial at Pine Grove Cemetery. She is survived by her husband and a daughter Russ Velvin. The family moved here four years ago from the city where Mr Morgan was a prominent businessman. An extended obituary will follow.

Thirty-Nine Rescued One Lost In Ocean Collision

United Press reports a Hawaiian steamer Washingtonian sunk off Fenwick Isle near Cape Henry after collision with an unknown vessel. One man is missing, thirty-nine were rescued by Lightship No. 92 as the Washingtonian's crew leaped overboard and a hull breach sealed the sinking.

Survivors Landed From German Cruiser Bleuchsy Sunk

Fifty survivors from the German cruiser Bleuchsy landed at Leith Scotland on January 26 after a British destroyer pickup. Twenty three men were wounded. The prisoners were reportedly taken to Hollnburg Castle.

Odd Fellows Celebrate In Columbus At New Lodge

A large delegation from Youngsville Warren and Sugar Grove attended the Memory of Brokenstraw Lodge gathering in Columbus. Seven candidates received the inght degree, followed by a banquet for over one hundred locals and visitors. The event marked the lodge’s first major gathering in the new Columbus building with visitors housed locally before returning home the next morning. Notables from Warren County attended.

Mrs Thaw Visits Son at Tombs Prison
