Baker Offers Lie Test in Defense Case
Former Senate aide Baker, on trial for income tax evasion larceny and conspiracy, says he'd undergo a lie detector test as cross examination nears its end. He denies pocketing 80000 in campaign funds or evading 22000 in taxes for 1961 and 1962 and claims campaign money went to the late Sen. Kerr who lent him 25000. He and his wife allegedly saved 100 from each paycheck. The judge said the case will go to a jury this week.
