Mullen Plans Big Fight Despite N B A Orders
Chicago promoter Jim Mullen secured contracts with Sam Mandell and Mickey Walker for title bouts months ago. The National Boxing Commission ordered Mandell and Walker to defend titles by February 16, with Mandell free to choose an opponent from a list and Walker to select a rival from a separate pool. Mandell hoped to match Billy Petrolle, while Walker eyes light heavyweight glory, potentially leaving the middleweight crown unsettled as promoters push for significant money and publicity.
