Wilkes-Barre June 24 Mayor John Kosek shouldered a shotgun and opened fire in the city park killing about 200 sparrows roosting in trees after park workers had begun a sparrow culling. The mayor joined the effort, firing for more than half an hour as residents counted the birds.
