Betts died from a single bullet wound after mistaking a horse for his home while intoxicated. The shot entered the back near the left hip, punctured the bowels, and the abdomen. an operation was performed but he died Sunday morning at Corry hospital. Betts, released on parole last summer after a slashing affray at his East street home, lived in Union City since mid November with his wife and three children Anamia Bertha and Arthur. He is survived by a brother Merle Betts of Conneaut Ohio and a half sister Mrs Bertha Thomas of Corry. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2:30 pm from Davison Funeral Home with burial in West Lawn Cemetery at Columbus.
PRONCH CREEK Jan 21 The community reports funeral services for the late Harmon J. Neckers held at the family home and Frevell Creek cemetery. Survivors include wife LuVaneh Gallup Neckers and several relatives. A separate voters meeting voted to permanently close the French Creek District No. 8 school and sell the property with a committee formed to oversee the sale.
Erie June 28 A woman from Flint street lost a $6,000 damages suit Saturday against Paul Martin of Wattsburg over injuries from a highway accident on Pine Avenue near Send Street. She claimed Martin’s negligence caused the crash and disputed contributory fault. The Frye Egg Club met at the Agricultural Hall with remarks by State Agriculture official Van Wagonen. The next meeting will feature a pancake supper chaired by Lee Junus.
Belly Wealdand, a noted girl preacher from Glysland, is scheduled to conduct a special interdenominational service Tuesday night at TAS. Sponsored by the West Evangelists Association, the event is open to the public with no admission charge. A special nuncio will be provided by the young preacher and church members will attend.
