Deserters Claim Pledged Troop Transfers Violated
German deserters report that Russia and Germany moved troops from northern lines after pledging not to transfer forces. The 1st and 4th German divisions were named as moved from the front, leaving virtually no Russian troops facing Germans along a 125 mile stretch. Deserters say Russian materials were abandoned in snow and ammunition transport stopped. Russian calvary traded to the enemy. Rumania reportedly remains hostile though observing armistice terms.
