Speculate on Yanks Held in Soviet Camps
Berlin officials speculate that about a score of American soldiers and Navy fliers may be trapped in Soviet slave labor camps. The Army says 13 soldiers have been missing from Berlin for years, with some possibly in the Kremlin arctic camps alongside hundreds of thousands. Eight airmen from a Navy privateer shot down in the Baltic in 1960 may be in the camps. John H. Noble, Detroit, released after nine years, said eight of ten crew members were rescued. Verdine, from Starks Louisiana, released after six years, was hospitalized and awaiting interrogation. Among the missing are Pvt. William J. Peterson Beaufort North Carolina and others across the country.

The researchers note immunity may be permanent for the same virus type, though exposure to other types remains possible. They observed household transmission and antibody presence in blood, with newborn infants often protected by maternal antibodies waning around six months.
