The steamship Kassala bound Hamburg Philadelphia reached port two weeks overdue after a fierce gale off the Jersey coast drove it far off course. Captain E J Williams reported a 70 hour watch and exhaustion as the vessel neared Bermuda before turning toward port.
Arrangements are under way to bring a well known radio expert to address the club's February meeting. The annual gathering was postponed to February 10 due to lack of a quorum. Officers will be elected and renewed activity is anticipated to boost radio reception and local interference surveys.
New Orleans, La Jan 21 The Southern Pacific steamship Creole a 10600 ton vessel inbound from New York and the tanker Panarko 4000 tons collided in the Mississippi River 75 miles south of New Orleans late last night Both were beached No one aboard was injured A wire service report said the Creole water line damaged but able to reach port under its own power The tanker bow was damaged about eighteen feet and crew of 28 reported unharmed
Sixty exiled refugees arrived on the destroyer Pillsbury at Manila after fleeing Foo Chow ahead of armed soldiers with banners reading kill all Christians. Among them was Mrs Ernest Price of Titusville and her four children. They, plus 41 Methodist mission members and others, seek shelter with friends as they arrive with little money and clothing.

In Englewood New Jersey Hamid Bey a 40 year old fakir endured a grave burial for two hours and 55 minutes in a five foot deep grave outside a theatre. He wore a white robe. sand and a plate covered him. Spectators were entertained by a dancer and a Turkish medium during the wait for removal.
