The widely known bowler Timmy Hitch, 28, died at St. Vincent's Hospital in Erie on Friday from injuries from a December 23 accident. He lived at 420 East 5th Avenue with his wife Betty and two children. He underwent four blood transfusions since Tuesday as hemorrhages from internal injuries developed.

The 11 00 church service features a sermon by G T Bergman on Give Us Day By Day Our Daily Bread as part of a prayer series. Tuesday Christian Endeavor meets 6 30 Youle Peonies at 1 30. Essex Street Nazarenes announce 10:00 Sunday School and 7:00 7:45 evangelistic services led by Rev. Pocock with the George evangelistic party. Home Coming service marks six years since organization. Also First Presbyterian at West Pleasant and South Center with Gilbert Boyd ministering. sermons on Religion of Power and The Simple, with music by Tobias and choir, midweek and Home Mission studies planned.

Special ceremony installs Edward Street as scoutmaster of Troop 70 at St Paul’s Evangelical Church Corry with a fire lighting rite, charter presentation, oath, and address by Rev Sheldon Schweikerl. Local leaders include Erie scout officials Charles Brugger Glenn Street and John Taylor. The event features a flag pledge and benediction as new troop members are introduced.
Twenty seven movorists across Western Pennsylvania and southwestern New York were chosen by the Keystone Safety Council to receive cash awards from five to twenty five dollars during the week ending January 17 1940. Several members lacked proper membership cards causing ineligibility and arrangements were made for deferred and qualified payees with total disbursements reaching 3515.00 to date. A ceremony and future payments for January 24 1840 include one special twenty dollar award two twenty five dollar awards and thirty five dollar awards to identified honorees.
