Tests for All Drivers of Pa Recommended
The Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Commissioner Benjamin Bynon supports an amendment to require every driver to undergo a fitness examination every five years. He says the change would impose work on the highway patrol but is needed as millions of licensed drivers may never have been tested. Currently about 3 percent fail today, suggesting thousands would fail if tested regularly. The patrol already handles about 300,000 new-driver exams yearly, with total annual exams potentially reaching 750,000 to 800,000 under the proposed rule.

Westley Set To Collect County Taxes At 900 Salary
Erie county commissioners approved Frank Westley city treasurer and tax collector for city, school and county duties at a straight 900 dollar salary. The move follows a failed motion to cut his pay by five percent plus three percent commission. The decision aims for a simpler, more equitable basis, despite Westley’s other income from tax duties. Meanwhile Grove City plans three new campus buildings as excavation for a new dormitory begins, with work on a science hall and chapel already underway.
