GM Plans Billion Expansion to Boost Auto Capacity

Fire Chief Ray Laurie submitted the annual report to Mayor Cherry and the city council showing total city fire losses of 31 625 for 1953. The Branford Hose Company answered 69 alarms, 13 outside the city, with a largest fire at Dr. R B Mosler’s East Columbus Ave home and $15 035 total losses outside the town excluding Union City.

Kidnap Suspects Arrested in Frisco Rescue
In Frisco police arrested two suspects after a wealthy San Francisco real estate broker was kidnapped and held for 300000 ransom. Leonard Moskowitz, 38, was found unharmed and identified his abductors Harold Jackson and Joe Lear from Sacramento. Police traced the pair to a hideout where Lear led investigators to the victim’s family by phone.

Arrest Corry check writer O'Neil nabbed in Warren
B. O'Neil of Fifth Avenue, long sought on charges of issuing worthless checks, was arrested in Warren yesterday afternoon after a car dealer attempted to cash a check drawn on the National Bank of the city. Police indicate he had cashed a $25 check in Warren. Warrants exist locally and in Titusville and Ow City. He had past trouble with local police but no known sentence.
