Rizzo Plans Strategy to Unseat Shapp in 1974 Race
Harrisburg AP reports Frank Rizzo weighs a bid for governor in 1974. He could run as a Republican, targeting Nixon-era Democratic support and exploring a challenge to Gov. Shapp who benefits from party reorganizations and incumbency. Possible rivals include Robert Casey, Martin Mullen, Arlen Specter, Heinz, Longstreth, and others. Scranton's stance looms.
