Engineer quits to save coworkers amid plant layoffs
Cedar Rapids based Collins Radio Co laid off 550 workers last week in a major cutback. David M Hodgin, 48, an electronic engineer with 24 years at the plant, said he chose to quit rather than decide which colleagues would lose jobs, noting his plan to form a humane venture tied to human dignity.
