Erie January 17 police report an old scheme in which two bills are combined to pass a counterfeit $20 by pasting part of a $4 note to the back of a real $10. A 14 year old man allegedly attempted to pass the bill at a downtown store and is held for questioning by police and Secret Service. The store owner alerted authorities after noticing the hoax.
Mrs. Samuel Groters died at her North Clymer home after months of illness. She was a member of the North Clymer Evangelical Tail Society and Sunday School superintendent. Survived by daughter Mrs Lorena Crosby. two sons Claude Groters and Samuel Groters Jr. a brother John Myers. Services Tuesday at 2 pm with Rev A L Par officiating. burial in Holland Cemetery, Clymer.
Dunkirk men are in critical condition in Rhineharly Hospital after a collision on Route a west of Silver Creek Saturday. The crash injured three others. Joseph Korzeniowski 44 Nichokes Jankowski 40 and Koyueniewski suffered a fractured leg, internal injuries, simple fractures, and a severed mouth. Drivers were Charles Rogers 45 of Toronto Michigan and Be Rawiti Markowinks.
A meeting is planned tomorrow at 6 p.m. at the Methodist Church to form a permanent community choir drawn from local church chairs. Lyn River, director of the Corry schools, will lead the session with members and families of the SU-volve choir who sang The Messiah last month.

In New Mexico and Arizona, 300 cars west of Lordsburg choke down US routes while 500 to 600 travelers endure freezing conditions. Southern California endures a third week of freezing temps as gale winds lash Mt Wilson and Pasadena area. Rescues move to clear stranded motorists along a 20 mile stretch west of Lordsburg as snow drifts reach up to 12 feet on mountain roads.
A 3 year old boy Edward James Sollinger of Emlenton, Venango County, was found alive and well about 13 hours after wandering from his home four miles north of Emlenton with his collie. A night search involving over 300 residents from Emlenton and surrounding districts recovered him sitting by a tree clutching a bottle. Weather was mild as he was found.
Chrysler Corporation announced reductions in overall dimensions of its 1949 Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto, and Chrysler models. Lengths widths and heights were toned down to improve traffic flow and garage space. President Keller described the redesign as using engineering to gain interior space while keeping exterior size lean.
