Schools Won't Share Costs Of Demolition

Corry Area School District Board of Education voted to send a letter to the city stating the district will not contribute to the demolition of the dilapidated West Main Street building. The plan to split costs among the city county and school district would have required about 12,000 from each, but the school board believes the district should not bear demolition costs for a project in a municipality that serves many districts. The county owns the property. if the city pursues condemnation as a nuisance abatement, the county could bear full costs. The city administrator and others weigh next steps as the board considers the implications. In a separate note, Senate Whip Byrd urged immediate gasoline rationing to curb monetary outflow.
